• They/Them

I exist in the sludge between fiction and fact.

This is not a review.

  • Character: Sega Saturn from Sega Hard Girls
  • Manufacturer: FREEing
  • Artist: Yokoyama as Sculptor
  • Release: 1/26/2016

My thoughts:

A long time grail I found for a great price. How iconic that Kei, the artist behind 2009 Hatsune Miku would come on to also be the key artist for Sega Hard Girls? Even further, since Miku is owned by Sega (and Crypton), the resemblence between Sega Saturn Girl and Miku is striking. Kei's art style wonderfully shows through in the figure sculpt. I find myself flip flopping between Miku and Saturn in my mind! The transparent skirt, sleeves, and vest cape reflect light very beautifully. The beautiful classic colors of the Saturn shine through in the bright blues and pinks, and her collar resembling the controller. Her canes resemble the logo in the menu, and are a cute prop overall! My only gripe is the cane in front of her that she is holding out. It tends to fall off easily as the slightest touch, and the peg on the cane does not properly seat into her hand. When I am able to unpack my hobby desk, I will work on probably trying to repin the cane to be... more permanent. I do not see myself selling her any time soon.

I hope to collect the other Sega Hard Girls in the future! For now, Saturn is a great start. Some wonderful classics on the Sega Saturn-- My personal favorites are NiGHTS: Into Dreams & Panzer Dragoon; Do you have a favorite Sega Saturn game? Any memories of the console or gaming? Let me know!

🖋️ PLEASE NOTE, I use an Iphone 13pro for all my images-- I am also a poor photographer.

✔️ New in! Original Color - Shin Seiki Evangelion - Kaworu Nagisa - Radio EVA 1/7

  • Origin: Neon Genesis Evangelion / Shin Seiki Evangelion

  • Character: Kaworu Nagisa

  • Company: Hobby Max as Manufacturer

  • Artists: Kiking as Sculptor, Poly-Toys as Sculptor, Satou Yasuhiro as Color Producer, Yoneyama Mai as Illustrator

  • Release: 06/2022 - 13,800yen

  • Dimensions: 1/7 scale (10.4in)

Box:

  1. Absolutely beautiful. Easily the most unique box in my entire collection. The holographic print of Kaworu's name is great.
  2. The artwork is represented on the sides in incredibly high quality, and without a window to see the figure-- it leads for much anticipation as you open it. I really liked that there was not a window, and let the unique box design shine through.

Base & Assembly:

  1. They base is a flat black disc, with a small layer of clear plastic on top, that gives it a floating effect almost.
  2. The Radio EVA 10th Anniversary print is in a lightly tinted grey, the base is simple but effective.
  3. Very easy assembly, simple metal pegs in the base that slide into the shoes with ease.

Sculpt & Paint:

  1. Expertly sculpted, with subtle litte details that make all the difference. The ponytail in the back, the individual laces on the shoes, and the folds in the hoodie-- all sculpted very well.
  2. No obvious paint bleed that jumps out, and no paint-overs either. The print on the hoodie design is high quality, and you can really see all the little details of the artwork on the sleeves.
  3. The color variant I own is classified as "Ver. Radio EVA, Original Color" The other variant is similiar but different. The other variant has a darker grey for the hair, the pants are more purple, and the shoes are solid black. That variant is classified as "Ver. Radio EVA"

Final Thoughts:

  1. A simple scale, but a solid one. For the MSRP I paid, it was worth the pricepoint. I am now seeing the color variation I own go for twice the price-- However The variant color I mentioned is having a 05/2023 re-release for MSRP.
  2. Probably the more affordable Kaworu Nagisa scale figures on the market at the moment. The Radio EVA Part 2 figures are also up for preorder, and due for 11/2023 release. Most of Kaworu's aftermarket prices are more, but for anything on preorder you're getting a more accurate price.
  3. I awaited this figure for months, I paid seamail for it originally and accepted that it would be lost since it took 4 months to arrive at my doorstep-- but seamail has not failed me yet! Well worth the wait, a great figure I plan on keeping in my collection for years to come.
